Indu Sarkar is the dared step of Madhur Bhandarkar who tried to portray a political drama that took place during the reign of Indira Gandhi as a Prime Minister.

It is clearly based on what is known as the ‘Black Chapter of the country’. The movie is clearly based on the grim situation that was created during 1975-1977.

It is the a Kriti story that revolves around the lead character Indu Sarkar played by Kriti Kulhari. She portrays the story of a woman who has a problem in speech but has the heart to oppose what government of the time was doing unjustly.

The story reflects on the misuse of power by the government and also regarding the mishaps like 70 vasectomies and unauthorised slum demolitions. Indu Sarkar finds her way to oppose the government when she witnesses the blind open firing of the police force on the unarmed slum dwellers. She decided to take things in her own hands and find the worst way possible to stop the emergency across the country. Madhur Bhandarkar has tried his best to give a great comeback.
